This is the sequel to Elena's Conquest.
In this story, it's 3 years later, 1073 Britain. Elena
and Aimery are forced to separate when Aimery goes off
to war. She can't forget him though so remains
faithful to his memory. When fate brings Elena
to the stronghold of William the Conqueror she comes face to
face with the lover that left her years before. But her dreams
of reuniting with Aimery are dashed when she learns that he's
taken another concubine, Henriette. Elena must decide if she
wants Aimery back, and if so, how hard is she willing to fight
for him.
Aimery le Sabrenn had meant to send for Elena
but the ravages of war prevented it. As the months passed
into years he hoped that Elena had forgotten him, and to help
him forget about her he turned to the buxom Henriette for
companionship, and to sate his lusts. He's been called to
the stronghold of William the Conqueror but the last thing
he expected was to come face to face with the love he left
behind 3 years ago, Elena.
Hemet is still with Aimery, his interests
in Isobel long gone. Though he has grown fond of Henriette.
Her passions are many and even the potent Aimery cannot satisfy
all her desires. Where Aimery leaves her still needy, Hamet
steps in to slake his own lusts.
Henriette relies on Aimery's patronage to
keep her in the life that she's accustomed to. She doesn't
love Aimery. Her motives are purely greed driven. But when
Elena comes back into Aimery's life Henriette sees her security
threatened and enlists the aid of those indebted to her to
teach Elena a lesson and turn her into the slave she was always
meant to be in someone of her class. She just prays that Aimery
doesn't find out that it was she that caused Elena to "disappear".
As with Ms Allen's first volume in Elena's
story, "Elena's Destiny" tells a riveting tale of
love lost and rediscovered. This is also a tale lust, greed
and betrayal. Historically gripping, well-developed characters
and an intricate plot that's interwoven with a highly lustful
tale will have readers wondering if this is historical romance
or the historical erotica that it was meant to be. After reading
both of Elena's stories I'm left wondering if the author will
bless us with another of Elena's stories. Both "Elena's
Conquest" and "Elena's Destiny" will be keepers
on my shelf.
