Nina Bangs is quickly earning herself a reputation of an author who can consistently write one fantastic book after another. Her

first being An Original Sin which garnered her a prestigious 2nd place among the Dorothy Parker Awards of Literary Excellence in 1999. Her second story, The Pleasure Master boosted Ms Bangs' reputation as not only as one of the great storytellers of 2001 but also of an author who can write damn good erotica. In 2000, Ms Bangs contributed to the anthology Seduction by Chocolate which had readers melting along with her chocolate erotica.

Now, in Night Games Ms Bangs tells the story of a land in the distant future where time travel is a common means of taking a holiday and sex isn't just for pleasure anymore but a sport that has replaced Monday Night Football! This is a world where male impotence has become an increasing problem which has forced women to line up at stadium doors to join the "games".

Brian Byrne is MVP in the game of Sex, playing for the team the Testosterone Titans. He earned that title after bringing four women to climax simultaneously (leaving that to the readers imagination!). When he's not on the "playing field" he's in training. For a man like Brian, sex is not a problem. He's trained long and hard, pardon the pun, to get where he is today. But he's tired and needs a vacation. His plan is to return to the past to his ancient families castle for a little R&R and maybe to rebuilt the castle as a means to keep fit.

Ally O'Neill is an American tourist in Ireland with her great aunt Katy who's the geriatric Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This is Katy's vacation. Allie has accompanies the old woman to keep her out of trouble. It's bad enough that Katy insisted on traveling around in a horse-drawn caravan like a gypsy but Katy is well read on Irish legends and is determined to see a ghost before her trip is over. When a local publican tells the story of a vampire up at the Byrne Castle it's all Allie can do to keep her aunt's excitement at bay. But the publican's tale is true as a thunder and lightening flash around the castle and at precisely midnight the figure of the vampire Black Liam. Thunder and lightening of another kind flash between Allie and Brian when the truth about Black Liam comes out. But can Allie believe in time travel? And does she want an athlete in her life…one whose career is based on sex with a multitude of women?

Night Games is a wildly comedic story about two people from the same world but centuries apart. Without the secondary characters a story like this might fall into a predictable time travel with countless others but the ever persistence cat keeps tabs on Brian. She is actually Brian's team owner looking to keep him on the straight and narrow with Allie (no sex while on vacation). We find the publican is the owner of another team that Brian used to play for and is hoping Brian will breach his contract by having sex with the beautiful Allie. Then enters Brian's trainer, Nebula, who continually reminds everyone around her that she's "more than a woman", leaving the reader to chuckle when they find out who, or what, Nebula really is.

My favorite Nina Bangs book so far would have to be The Pleasure Master, but Night Games is right up there tying for second with An Original Sin. All are keepers on my shelf and I continually look forward to each new release from this author. Night Games would be a terrific starter story to Ms Bangs' collection by first time readers. And current fans will love this rowdy story. A bonus is an Irish setting and the unpredictable things that can happen to one while on vacation in Ireland.
